Bondi Style is new book that gives insight into the notable residents of the iconic Australian beach. Self described as “Bondi Style is a snapshot of life beyond the tourist clichés exposing a highly
integrated creative community,” the book is jam packed with interviews with the local personalities and fashion figures such as Ksubi designer Dan Single, Ellery designer Kym Ellery and the boys from Sneaky Sound System. Known for it’s abundance of models, designers, actors and creative minds alike, Bondi is definately among the most intriguing of Australian suburbs. My personal collection of heels is pathetically small (just under 20) with the excuse of being a teenager spending a disgusting number of days walking around in polished black lace up school shoes. My collection however is not like those fabulous, colourful shoe collections of celebrities you see in magazines but instead, range from black… to black with the exception of a pair of cherry coloured Dr. Marten boots and a pair of tan booties. The days that aren’t spend in those school shoes are often spend in a pair of Dr. Marten boots. Now that school is out, I can see my collection doubling or tripling in size with dangerous speed. At the moment I’ve got my eye on a pair of everyday black boots and a pair of black wedge ankle boots. The task of finding the perfect pair of black boots is turning out to be quite a strenuous task. Not only do these boots have to be aesthetically pleasing, classic and cost effective, they have to be the slightest bit comfortable; it really needs to survive those long and tiring shopping trips.
Who is Karri Pledger you ask? Karri is tso’s first featured face in an upcoming segment dedicated to up and coming models called… “Featured Faces”. Karri recently won the annual Girlfriend Rimmel Model Search 2009, winning a two year modelling contract with Australia’s Chic Model Management and Next Model Management New York. With past competition winners including the likes of Catherine McNeil, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Sarah Stephens, Karri’s future certainly looks more than bright. The 15 year old red-headed beauty has been compared to fellow Australian model royalty Gemma Ward. I recently had a quick chat with Karri following her competition success.
